Neighborhood

We want to see French society transformed as a result of the Games, through the various neighborhood meetings, to reflect the image of God.

To this end, one of the key objectives of the French community during this crucial period is to get involved and commit in the local community and neighbourhood by organizing or participating to the various meetings planned for establish and consolidate relationships that will last and thus set a good example for the neighborhood by being light and salt for them.

Our goal is to bring together all local players (individuals, organizations, companies) who are committed to reaching, serving and impacting their city and neighborhood, by creating teams based on each person’s area of interest (sports, leisure, arts, music, social, culture, hospitality…).

Here are a few ideas for projects that the assembly can organize to serve its neighborhood and city:

  1. Organize community events: Local assemblies can organize events open to the community to celebrate the spirit of the Games. This may include :
  • Festivals,
  • Sports activities,
  • Musical concerts,
  • Art exhibitions,
  • Charitable initiatives to promote inclusion and solidarity.
  1. Awareness and integration campaign: Organize events and campaigns to raise awareness of the need to accept the different cultures that exist in the neighborhood or city, and think together about how to coexist in unity.
  2. Providing logistical and humanitarian support: Assemblies can also engage in humanitarian actions by offering logistical support to residents and visitors, such as temporary shelters, free meals, translation services or other forms of practical assistance.
  3. Organize educational and social programs: Assemblies can set up educational programs, conferences or workshops focusing on themes such as leadership, peace, social justice and sports ethics, taking advantage of the Games to convey meaningful messages.
  4. Offer spiritual support: the assembly can offer religious services and spaces for prayer or meditation for athletes, coaches and spectators who wish to recharge their spiritual batteries during the 2024 Games.
  5. Sharing the good news: The assembly can mobilize and share the good news for the salvation of residents and athletes.
  6. Viewing rooms: Assemblies can offer to watch live sporting events on giant screens. This is an option for people who were unable to obtain tickets for the main game sites.
  7. Rest and relaxation areas: Assembly rooms could be used as rest areas for spectators, offering a quiet place to relax between events or to escape the heat or rain.
  8. Information or emergency centers: They could also serve as information centers for spectators, to obtain information on events, schedules, transport, etc. What’s more, in the event of an emergency or need for medical assistance, these premises could be used.
  9. Catering areas: Depending on their size, assemblies can be used as catering areas, where spectators can eat between events.
  10. Promoting Olympic values: The assembly can use its influence to promote values such as peace, fraternity, equality and solidarity, which are also at the heart of the Games.

The involvement of the assembly during the Games depends on the will, logistics and resources available at local level to meet the specific needs of the neighborhood. However, these efforts can help create a welcoming and inclusive environment, promoting positive values within the neighborhood during this major international event.

Hospitality

Hospitality is an important theme of the Games, underlining the importance of hospitality, generosity and respect towards others, including strangers and people in need. It’s a fundamental value that reflects love, respect and acceptance, and is encouraged by all times.

During this period, here are a few ideas to help the congregation show its hospitality to quartierx or visitors:

  1. Welcome and orientation programs: Set up welcome programs for foreign visitors in collaboration with local authorities to provide information, maps and guidance on the city, places of worship and available services.
  2. Temporary accommodation: Provide temporary accommodation or help coordinate accommodation for visitors, athletes or volunteers who may require additional accommodation during the Games.
  3. Special events and gatherings: Organize special events, cross-cultural gatherings or evenings for visitors, showcasing local culture, offering food, entertainment or activities that celebrate diversity and promote cultural exchange.
  4. Religious and spiritual services: Offer special religious services tailored to visitors, provide information on accessible places of worship available during the Games, and extend a warm welcome to people of all nations.
  5. Assistance and practical support: Set up information stands or help teams to offer practical advice, language assistance, translations or any other logistical support required.
  6. Community involvement: Encourage assembly members to volunteer for community initiatives, such as street cleaning, fundraising for local charities or organizing sports activities for residents or visitors.
  7. Promoting positive values: Emphasize the values of peace, inclusion, respect and unity during the Games, highlighting these principles in speeches or events organized by the assembly.

By demonstrating hospitality in this way during the Games, the assembly can contribute positively to the visitor experience and help promote a welcoming, warm and inclusive environment for all.
